 What is CVR ?and What is Black Box?

The “black box” is made up of two separate pieces of equipment: the flight data recorder (FDR) and a cockpit voice recorder (CVR). They are compulsory on any commercial flight or corporate jet, and are usually kept in the tail of an aircraft, where they are more likely to survive a crash.

 Can a black box be destroyed?

The rest of the black box — including the power supply and circuit boards — doesn’t have the same protections and may well be destroyed in a crash. All that protection means that black boxes are recovered and useful much more often than not, which is why the technology has endured for so long

 Why is a black box called a black box?

It may be because it is often charred black after a crash, it may be because the very first boxes were painted black to prevent reflection or because ‘black box’ is a general name in science for devices with in- and output of data with complex internal workings.

 What does a black box record?

The black box records your journeys and information about how you’ve been driving. This includes data on speed, smoothness and usage, which all contribute to your total Driving Style Score. The black box also enables your car’s GPS location to be identified in the unfortunate event that your car gets stolen.

 Where are black boxes located in a plane?

There are usually two black boxes located in the rear of the plane (usually the last point of impact), each recording a stream of information: the first, the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), stores the last two hours of conversation in the cockpit, and the second, the Flight Data Recorder (FDR), keeps a larger set of data
